OIL WARS 2: Clone of the Attack
No to War on Iraq
In 1991, George Bush Snr. invaded Iraq under the pretext
of saving Kuwait from invasion. More than 100,000 Iraqi people
died during this war and 90,000 have died each year since as a result
of sanctions. In 2003, George Bush Jnr. wants to invade Iraq
because he claims Saddam Hussein is holding weapons of mass destruction,
and defying UN resolutions.
The reasons for both wars are the exact same - Control
of Iraq's lucrative oil fields. Nothing more, nothing
less.
This is a war for oil and a clone of the first attack.
- The US Military possesses the largest stockpile of weapons
of mass destruction in the world. They continue to research
and develop even more devastating military hardware. These
weapons will be used to slaughter innocent civilians and cause
mass destruction in Iraq. The only problem the US has with
weapons of mass destruction is that they can't get enough of them.
- The current US Military budget is a staggering $355 billion
dollars per year. If this money was distributed throughout
the world to alleviate poverty, disease, illiteracy, provide sustainable
industry and improve the infratructure of the world's poorest
countries - a lot of the worlds conflicts would be immediately
resolved.
- A lot of weapons Saddam Hussein and Iraq possess were sold
to them by the US.
The Irish Government is complicit in the war build up. They
should listen to people and oppose the launching of a new war against
Iraq and stop allowing Shannon airport to be used by US warplanes.
Ógra Shinn Féin in no way supports Saddam Hussein
or the Iraqi regime but we strongly oppose George Bush's drive to
war, which will result in the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent
Iraqi people. We are calling for the immediate withdrawal
of all US and British troops from the Gulf region and for the US
to stop treating the world as a staging post for its wars of mass
destruction.

gheobhaidh daoine bochta bás.
